Blockstream Calls It Theft
Blockstream rejects the Liquid attacker's self-awarded fee as a ransom, engages law enforcement, and demands the ~598 BTC back — peg-outs still paused.
India Settles Tokenised Bonds in CBDC
India's securities regulator SEBI launched its Demat 2.0 pilot — a tokenised layer on the country's existing electronic securities system — with coverage reporting over $100 million in tokenised bonds settled using the Reserve Bank's wholesale digital rupee, per The Block. Settlement is atomic: the bond token and the central-bank money move in the same instant. The pilot follows India's first tokenised corporate bond sale, bought by HDFC and ICICI, reported earlier this week.
Canada Reads the Banks' Token In
Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions stated that tokenised deposits are not legally distinct from traditional bank deposits — the technology used to represent a deposit does not change its legal nature — per OSFI's September 10 statement as reported across coverage. Banks must follow existing cyber and third-party risk guidelines and consult supervisors before launching products. OSFI simultaneously finalised its 2027 crypto-asset capital guideline. The clarification makes Canada the second North American jurisdiction to formalise deposit-token parity, after the FDIC's pending proposal.
