Hyperliquid is rapidly expanding its decentralized derivatives dominance through record open interest, tokenized equities, institutional integrations, and growing regulatory scrutiny.

CNBC reported unusual call-buying around Trump's Hyperliquid remarks: about four hours before he spoke, a trader spent roughly $65,000 on 719 call options in Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR), the Nasdaq-listed HYPE treasury company — contracts that nearly tripled by the close as PURR rose 30%, an unrealized gain near $111,000. Options volume ran ~8x the 30-day average, heavily skewed to calls. An options veteran told CNBC he hopes the buyers "have a robust alibi"; no trader has been identified.

HYPE options: the four-hour head start

Forget the price jump. Look at the clock. Around 11am, someone spent $65,000 on cheap call options in Hyperliquid's listed treasury company — a contract almost nobody traded. Four hours later, the President named Hyperliquid at the White House. By the close, that $65,000 was worth about $176,000.

Maybe they knew. Maybe they were just early — the company itself says it had been talking to regulators for months, so informed guessing was possible. One veteran trader's verdict to CNBC covers both cases: "I hope they have a robust alibi."

Here's what doesn't depend on the answer. When a president can move a token 20% by saying its name, everyone standing close enough to hear him first holds a winning ticket. The same question followed the tariff-pause trades last year; nobody was ever charged, and nothing changed.
