DTCC Completes Live Tokenized Securities Trades With JPMorgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs; October Service Launch Set

DTCC is rolling out a live tokenized securities platform, progressing from pilot demonstrations to a formal October service launch with major institutional partners.

The DTCC completed live securities trades using tokenized assets with JPMorgan, BlackRock, and Goldman Sachs as counterparties, involving tokenized shares of Microsoft, QQQ, SPY, and SHV. The pilot, which includes 40 participating firms, is scheduled to expand into a formal tokenization service launching in October. USDC was identified as the primary stablecoin settlement rail for the tokenized equities activity.

DTCC Tokenisation: Wall Street just rewired itself from the inside

The fine print buried in this pilot: tokenised securities "do not necessarily confer legal ownership of the underlying asset."

The DTCC processes $4.7 quadrillion in transactions a year. It is the backbone of US markets. And it just ran a live test putting Microsoft shares, the S&P 500, and short-term Treasuries onto blockchain rails — settling in USDC, with BlackRock, JPMorgan and Goldman as counterparties.

This isn't crypto eating Wall Street. It's Wall Street deciding which parts of crypto's plumbing it wants to keep — and discarding the rest, including the ownership rights.

Faster settlement and fewer failed trades are real gains. But what's being built here is a more efficient version of the existing system, not an alternative to it. The blockchain is the rail; the institutions still hold the keys.
