Russia Closes the Self-Custody Exit
Russia’s Central Bank: Peer-to-Peer Crypto Legal Only Until July 2027, and No Self-Custody Exit From Licensed Accounts
Bank of Russia guidance published 12 October says direct crypto trades between individuals remain legal only until 1 July 2027, under the digital-currency law in force since September. Transfers from licensed digital accounts to self-custody wallets are barred. Non-qualified investors can buy up to 300,000 rubles (about $3,600) a year — Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT only — after a test; Sberbank plans its first crypto products for 1 December.
